Made in: Handmade in Sicily, italy Material: Ceramic Around the year 1000, during the Arab domination in the Kalsa district of Palermo, a story unfolds of a young and beautiful girl who spent her days caring for the plants on her balcony. One day, a young Moor passed by and fell madly in love with her, a feeling reciprocated by the girl. However, deception was just around the corner. The man had not told the girl that, beyond the sea, he had a wife and children to whom he had to return soon. Blinded by jealousy, she killed him in his sleep by beheading. To keep him with her always, she turned his head into a sort of vase in which she planted basil. The plant, watered every day with her tears, grew increasingly lush, arousing the curiosity of the neighbors who, envious, had local craftsmen build vases with the same features as those of the girl.
